but wait, there's more...rip-offs

i'm wearing a new skirt, my lipstick is just the right colour & i have an exciting evening planned...but i've been on the verge of tears all day & eating chocolate like it's pop-corn..
here's another 2 sightings, now brought to you by Etsy :(

Rip-off by beadfullthinking - 'Tape Measure Heart Charm'
(OMG!! would someone really buy this?)

Rip-off by RetroSkor - 'Measuring Tape Heart' ..ooh! late Edit! this item has now been removed!!!

i did a bit of emailing this morning, to the sellers & to Etsy's complaints department, i haven't heard back from anyone yet but i did just notice that one of the sellers has removed the item. YAY!
thank you so much for the supportive comments - it means a huge deal to me and makes me feel not alone at all :)
vic
ps. and thanks Peta & Jade for being on the lookout!

I am so sorry - as a proud owner of one of your beautiful necklaces I think this is just heart wrenching (no bad pun intended.) Unfortuantely more here http://www.chelseadoll.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=48&products_id=637 and if you search ebay there seems to be a supplier in hong kong selling horrid quality ones too.

urgh, and for $2.95. How horrible for you. There must be a bulk maker of these somewhere to be able to sell at that price. A real kick in the guts. Try to put that aside for this evening and enjoy yourself, it will all still be there in the morning to think about :)

I'm so sorry to hear about these rip-offs. Must be such a painful experience. I hope they will take matters further at Etsy and that the other rip-offs around the internet will be removed.

I've been saving up for a necklace of yours and will never ever even consider a cheaper version. I mean how could I? They are not even close to yours in quality not to mention it would be plain wrong as I think ideas and designs should be respected. I'm sure there are many more like me who admire your work and appreciate the hard work that goes into creating a piece.

I really hope you'll be able to enjoy your evening.
Take care!

I don't blame you for feeling upset! I think your necklace is stunning and I can see why people would want to replicate it, but how shameful of them that they did.

I hope you do enjoy your evening.

I’m so sorry this has happened to you. I know it doesn’t make it any less hurtful, but you do know that these rip offs are not a patch on you beautiful work. I hope you are able to find and shame all of the cheaters.

It is disgusting that these uncreative thiefs think its acceptable to just take your amazing ideas.
Its sad that they copy it, at a pathetic quality, and make money on something you spent 8 months creating.

I hope it all gets sorted out and you get some justice!

I'm so sorry for you, Vic. It is so awful to hear about these rip-offs, there seems to be a new one every month at the moment. An illustrator I know has recently found her work reproduced as the lining in a jacket by an Australian fashion designer. I just don't get it, I really don't I am thinking of you, I hope this is the end of it and there are no more. Don't give up! x

How awful :( If it's any consolation they look like complete junk compared to your lovely craftsmanship.

I am a bit late in catching up with this thread, but as a crafty community we need to be on the look out for what the big manufacturers are doing to us. So sorry to hear about them ripping off your necklace, but you can see that yours is the quality product. I hope that you have some good legal advice behind you. Can craft victoria help? All the best.
